Veterans Day in The Villages 2026: The Service, the Squares, the Cruise and Every Time You Need

Veterans Day says a lot about a place, and in The Villages it is a full week of events spread across a memorial park, four town squares, a lake dock, two softball complexes and a theater. If you are deciding where to live, it is also one of the easiest weeks of the year to see how the community actually turns out. Every time and place below is sourced and dated October 2026.

What is happening for Veterans Day in The Villages in 2026?

The developer lists Veterans Day events from November 8 to 12, 2026: a veterans softball tournament on November 8, an 11 a.m. service at Veterans Memorial Park on November 11, a 5 p.m. tribute on every town square, a choir concert at The Tracy, a lake cruise, and a Memphis Belle movie night on November 12.

The short version

  • Veterans Day is Wednesday, November 11, 2026. The main service is at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park near Spanish Springs.
  • At 5 p.m. on November 11, every town square plays the National Anthem and each branch's service song.
  • Veterans can get 25% off select ticketed shows at The Savannah Center and The Tracy on November 11 by choosing the Veteran ticket type.
  • The free Memphis Belle movie night on November 12 needs registration, which opens October 29 through the District.
  • Villages-News reported that the long-running Parady Financial veterans celebration at Brownwood will not be held this November.

What is the Veterans Day schedule in The Villages for 2026?

As of October 2026, the developer's Veterans Day schedule runs five days: softball on Sunday, November 8; a memorial service, a lake cruise, square tributes and a choir concert on Wednesday, November 11; and an outdoor screening of Memphis Belle on Thursday, November 12. Most events are free; the concert venues sell tickets.

The developer published the lineup on October 14, 2026 under the title Veterans Day in The Villages: Celebrating Their Service. Its Seasons of Celebration calendar shows the week as Honoring Our Veterans, November 8 to 11, but the detailed article adds a fifth event on November 12, so plan around the longer list.

Addresses for the softball complexes come from the District's softball page, not the event listing. The developer notes that schedules can change, so check the listing the week of the event. The whole week is also on this site's events calendar, where you can add each one to your phone.

Where is the Veterans Day service in The Villages?

The service is at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, at Veterans Memorial Park, just off Main Street at Paige Place and Lake Miramar near Spanish Springs Town Square. The District holds a commemorative ceremony there every Veterans Day, and the developer describes the park's regular veterans services as open to the public.

Veterans Memorial Park is a quiet space: oak trees, park benches and commemorative bricks honoring people who served or are serving. The developer lists it as open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., so you can visit on any day, not only during the ceremony.

Buying a brick for someone who served

The District sells veteran bricks for $55, in honor of anyone who has served or is serving in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. You can mail the application with payment or bring it to a District customer service location. The detail most people miss: bricks must be bought by March 31 to be included in that year's ceremony. A brick ordered this fall goes into the 2027 ceremony, not the one on November 11.

Getting there

The park sits on the historic north end of the community, a short walk from Spanish Springs. Expect the square area to be busy on a holiday morning. If you are coming by cart, our golf cart living guide covers how the path network and road crossings connect.

What happens on the town squares on Veterans Day?

At 5 p.m. on November 11, 2026, every town square holds A Tribute to Our Veterans: the National Anthem followed by each branch's service song. It is the same hour on every square, so pick the one closest to you. At 7 p.m., choirs and the high school band perform a tribute concert at The Tracy Performing Arts Center.

If you have never been to a square for an evening, our town squares guide explains how the stages, dance floors and nightly music work.

The 7 p.m. concert at The Tracy

The developer lists performances by the Heart of Florida, Barbershop and TVHS choirs and band. The Tracy is on The Villages High School campus at 2210 Dr. Randy McDaniel Way, and its main theater seats more than 800. The listing I read gave no ticket price, so check with the box office.

The veteran ticket discount

On November 11, veterans can take 25% off select ticketed performances at The Savannah Center and The Tracy. To use it, choose the Veteran ticket type when buying online, or ask for it in person at the box office. The developer does not list which shows qualify, so ask before you buy.

Is there a Veterans Day boat cruise in The Villages?

Yes. On November 11, 2026, the Lake Sumter Line runs a Veterans Day cruise from 1 p.m. to sunset at its dock at Lake Sumter Landing, and the developer invites veterans to ride. Regular cruises cost $3 per ticket, cash only, last about 25 minutes, and sell first come, first served at the dock.

The Lake Sumter Line is run by the Recreation and Parks Department, which lists October to March hours of 1 p.m. to sunset, so the Veterans Day cruise follows the normal fall schedule. The Veterans Day listing does not say whether the fare changes for the day, so bring a few dollars in cash either way.

A few rules from the District's page worth knowing if you bring guests: anyone under 13 rides with an adult, children six and under wear a life jacket the department provides, and departures can shift with weather and lake conditions.

One longer-range note: the developer announced a waterfront revitalization at Lake Sumter Landing in October 2025, with plans to expand the walking and seating areas and add new waterfront recreation. I found no published construction date that affects the dock this November.

How do the softball tournament and the Memphis Belle movie night work?

The Veterans Softball Tournament runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, at the Soaring Eagle Softball Complex, with a moment of reflection for veterans. The free screening of Memphis Belle starts at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, at the Farragut Softball Complex. Registration for the movie opens October 29.

The tournament. The Recreation and Parks Department runs nineteen softball fields at six locations, and Soaring Eagle is the one on Morse Boulevard. The developer describes the day as a series of games with a tribute to veterans built in, so spectators can come and go.

The movie. Memphis Belle is the 1990 drama about a ten-man bomber crew in World War II. You can register at DistrictGov.org or at any District customer service center starting October 29. Bring a chair: it is an outdoor showing at a softball complex, and the developer's listing says nothing about seating.

Is the Parady veterans celebration at Brownwood happening in 2026?

No, according to Villages-News. On September 30, 2026, it reported that the Parady Financial veterans celebration, held each November at Brownwood Paddock Square for more than a decade, will not be held this year. Parady told clients the decision came from the owners of The Villages. The developer's 2026 schedule lists no Brownwood veterans event.

For years the Parady event was one of the larger veterans gatherings of the season, with food and entertainment and a link to Villages Honor Flight. Its absence is a real change for anyone who planned the week around it.

On October 18, 2026, a Villages-News editorial pointed to the cancellation as part of wider resident questions about possible cutbacks in community events. I have not found a statement from the developer on either point, so treat the editorial as opinion and the published schedule above as what is confirmed.

Where do veterans connect in The Villages the rest of the year?

Three places come up again and again: Veterans Memorial Park near Spanish Springs, open daily; Eisenhower Recreation Center at 3560 Buena Vista Boulevard, which displays service memorabilia donated by residents; and Villages Honor Flight, which flies veterans from Lake, Sumter, Marion, Citrus and Hernando counties to their memorials in Washington, D.C.

Eisenhower Recreation Center

The developer describes monuments to the military branches at the entrance and walls of patches, photographs and keepsakes donated by residents. It is a regional recreation center open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, with a sports pool, pickleball and platform tennis courts, so the displays are part of an ordinary visit.

Villages Honor Flight

Villages Honor Flight is a nonprofit hub of the national Honor Flight Network. It accepts WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War era veterans from its five-county area who have not yet been on an Honor Flight, and its phone line is 352-432-1382. Despite the name, it states that it has no formal connection to The Villages, which supports it with meeting space.

The flightless mission recreates the trip without the flight, for veterans who cannot or prefer not to fly. The organization notes that every mission has a send-off and a homecoming.

Is there a Veterans Day parade near The Villages?

Yes. The City of Leesburg holds its Veterans Day Parade at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, on Main Street downtown, with marching bands, floats and veteran organizations, themed this year to America's 250th birthday. It starts at the same hour as the service at Veterans Memorial Park, so you will need to choose one.

The city is also taking applications from veteran organizations, businesses and community groups that want to march. If you go, allow time to park downtown on a holiday morning.

A workable Veterans Day for most people looks like this: the 11 a.m. service or the parade in the morning, the Lake Sumter Line in the afternoon, the 5 p.m. tribute on the square closest to you, and the 7 p.m. concert at The Tracy if you want to finish indoors.

The local take

I was born and raised in Marion County, I served in the Navy, and I work as an independent buyer's agent, not for the developer's sales office. Veterans Day week is personal for me, and it is also practical.

Use the week as a test. If you are visiting this fall, the service at Veterans Memorial Park and the 5 p.m. tribute on a square show you how the community turns out, and how long it takes to reach those places from the area you are considering.

The trade-off people miss. The memorial park sits beside Spanish Springs, on the historic side, where the housing is the oldest in the community and includes manufactured homes. Being close to the park and the square is easy to love. Roof age, insurance and financing on older or manufactured homes deserve a harder look than the drive suggests.

What I would check. For any home you are serious about: the drive time to the VA clinic, the cart route to the square you would use, the amenity fee for that address and the remaining bond balance. If you plan to use a VA loan, ask your lender early how it treats the bond. I am not a lender, but I make sure that question gets asked on day one.

Frequently asked questions

What day of the week is Veterans Day in 2026?

Veterans Day falls on Wednesday, November 11, 2026. In The Villages that puts the memorial service, the boat cruise, the 5 p.m. square tributes and the concert at The Tracy on a weekday, with the softball tournament the Sunday before and the movie night the Thursday after.

Do you have to be a resident to attend the Veterans Day service?

The developer invites everyone to join the Veterans Day events, and it describes the regular veterans services at Veterans Memorial Park as open to the public. The 5 p.m. tribute is held on the public town squares. The movie night is the exception that needs advance registration through the District.

How do I buy a memorial brick at Veterans Memorial Park?

The District sells veteran bricks for $55. Mail the completed application with payment, or bring it to any District customer service location. Bricks must be bought by March 31 to be part of that year's Veterans Day ceremony, so an order placed this fall will be included in November 2027.

How do veterans get the 25% ticket discount on Veterans Day?

On November 11, 2026, choose the Veteran ticket option when buying online, or ask for it in person at the box office. The developer says the discount applies to select ticketed performances at The Savannah Center and The Tracy, but it does not list which shows, so confirm before you buy.

Can a veteran who cannot fly still go on a Villages Honor Flight?

Yes. Villages Honor Flight runs flightless missions that recreate the full experience without the trip to Washington, D.C. The next one listed is February 20, 2027, for 25 veterans, with a mandatory pre-flight meeting on January 23. Call 352-432-1382 or apply online through the organization.

Are other big events coming after Veterans Day?

The developer's fall calendar lists the first Dragon Boat Rodeo on Central Lake at Eastport on November 14, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Light Up The Villages on December 1, from 5 to 9 p.m., at Brownwood, Eastport, Lake Sumter Landing and Spanish Springs. Check closer to each date.
