A Week in The Villages, Day by Day: What Is Actually On, What It Costs, and Where to Look

Brochures sell The Villages with a highlight reel. What you actually live is an ordinary Tuesday. This guide walks through a normal week as the District and the entertainment calendar describe it in October 2026, with the hours, the fees and the places to check, so you can picture the routine before you pick a village.

What does a typical week in The Villages look like?

A typical week in The Villages runs on a steady baseline: free live music on the town squares every night, recreation centers open daily, free green fees on 40+ executive golf courses, and pools open from morning to dusk. Clubs, classes and leagues fill in the rest, listed weekly by the District as of October 2026.

The short version

  • Fall square hours: 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday at four venues; Eastport runs 6 to 10 p.m. daily.
  • Regional complexes and village recreation centers are listed as open daily, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Executive golf green fees are free for residents; a cart needs a trail pass, listed at $22.54 a month or $148.77 a year before tax.
  • Tee times run on a points system: requests 4 to 7 days ahead, reservations 1 to 3 days ahead.
  • The weekly Recreation and Parks publication and the Thursday Daily Sun are where the week's schedule lives.

What is open every day in The Villages?

Every day of the week, four town square venues host live music in the evening, Eastport runs its own nightly stage, regional and village recreation centers are listed as open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the pools open at 7 or 7:30 a.m. and close at dusk. Residents also pay no green fee on the executive golf courses.

The baseline is the part of a Villages week that never changes, and it is bigger than most people expect. You do not have to plan any of it. It is simply there when you want it.

What does a sample week look like, day by day?

A sample week has a few fixed anchors and a lot of open time: Men's Day golf on Tuesdays and Ladies' Day on Wednesdays, activity listings in Thursday's Daily Sun, a Saturday farmers market at Brownwood, and live music on the squares every evening. Clubs, classes and pickup games fill whatever gaps you choose to fill.

Here is how the calendar lays out across a week in fall 2026. Treat it as a skeleton. The thousands of club meetings, classes and league games sit on top of it, and those depend on what you sign up for.

One item to double-check

The Brownwood farmers market hours come from a thevillages.com article first posted in 2022 and last updated in 2024. We found no newer listing, so confirm the market is running before you plan a Saturday around it.

How do residents find out what is happening each week?

Residents check three places: the District's weekly Recreation and Parks publication online, the Thursday edition of The Villages Daily Sun, and The Villages app. Square entertainment has separate monthly calendars from The Villages Entertainment. Signing up for classes and activities runs through At Your Service desks or the District's online registration portal.

The volume is the reason a weekly guide exists. The developer's lifestyle page says the Recreation Department runs over 3,000 organized activities every week, and it counts over 3,500 resident-led clubs in the body text (the same page's summary says more than 4,000, so treat the exact figure loosely).

  • Recreation and Parks publication. The District posts it online under "See the Schedule" on its recreation page.
  • The Daily Sun on Thursdays. The District's resident booklet names Thursday as the day activities and sports pool schedules run in the paper.
  • At Your Service. Weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the regional centers; weekends 8:30 a.m. to noon at Eisenhower, La Hacienda, Lake Miona, Rohan and Everglades.

Two rules to know early: clubs are open to residents with a valid Resident ID, and the District asks for an activity release form each calendar year. If you are still collecting your ID and gate card, our first 30 days checklist walks through the offices in order.

How does golf fit into the week, and what does it cost?

Residents pay no green fee on the 40+ executive courses, and walking is free. Riding needs the Executive Golf Trail Pass, listed in October 2026 at $22.54 a month, $111.58 for six months or $148.77 a year, plus sales tax. Championship courses include free country club membership but charge green fees per round.

Golf is the easiest part of the week to fill and the one with the most moving parts. Two kinds of courses do two different jobs.

Golf costs for residents, as listed in 2026 (before tax)
Item1 month6 months12 months
Executive Golf Trail Pass (cart use, executive courses)$22.54$111.58$148.77
Championship Golf Enhancement, single$146.00$691.00$865.50
Championship Golf Enhancement, double$182.00$866.50$1,082.00

Who owns what. The District says the executive courses are owned and run by the Village Center and Sumter Landing community development districts, while the championship courses belong to the developer. The newest executive course, Bellaire at Eastport, is a par 27 that opened to tee times in November 2025.

Booking is not first come, first served. The tee time system gives priority to golfers with the fewest points, counted on a rolling seven days. You can request a time 4 to 7 days ahead or reserve one 1 to 3 days ahead through the automated line at 352-753-4653, which is offline from midnight to 1 a.m. Same-day times go through the golf shop or the executive course starter.

Golf is one line in a household budget that also includes the monthly amenity fee and, for many homes, a bond. Our cost of living calculator puts them together.

Trail pass prices from the District's Trail Fees page (updated October 1, 2026); enhancement prices from thevillages.com Rates and Fees (Summer 2026 rates); tee time rules from thevillages.com, all accessed October 20, 2026. Prices may change without notice.

Which pools and recreation centers can you use, and when?

The District runs three kinds of recreation centers and three kinds of pools. Regional complexes carry the most amenities and the sports pools, village centers sit in the middle, and neighborhood areas are the smallest. Sports pools are resident only, family and adult pools admit guests, and every pool closes at dusk, as listed in October 2026.

Family poolsSelect recreation centersResidents and guests, all ages7:30 a.m. to dusk

The regional complexes are where much of the week happens: gathering rooms, arts and crafts rooms, a theater, sports pools and outdoor facilities. The District lists Colony Cottage, Eisenhower, Everglades, Ezell, Fenney, La Hacienda, Lake Miona, Laurel Manor, Mulberry Grove, Olympia, Rohan, Savannah and SeaBreeze, with more marked as coming.

Sports pool schedules are published with the weekly Recreation and Parks listings and in Thursday's Daily Sun. Residents can also rent rooms at a center; the District says applications take 5 to 10 business days.

What is on the calendar in late October and November 2026?

On top of the weekly routine, the next few weeks add the Fall Golf Expo on October 23 and 24, Halloween on four squares on October 31, Shop and Dine Saturdays through November, and the Pro Shoot Out at Cane Garden on November 20. Enrichment Academy fall and winter classes run October 2026 through March 2027.

  • Fall Golf Expo, October 23 and 24, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Spread across the championship golf shops, Golf Academy locations, the Sarasota and Central Lake practice centers and Glenview Champions Tennis. Club fittings run at the Central Lake Golf Shop for a $25 fee that applies toward a purchase within 14 days.
  • Halloween, October 31, 6 to 10 p.m. At Brownwood, Eastport, Lake Sumter Landing and Spanish Springs. Our Halloween guide has the themes.
  • Pro Shoot Out, November 20, noon to 5 p.m. At Cane Garden Country Club, Hibiscus Nine.
  • The Enrichment Academy. A fee-based learning program the Village Center CDD board created in 2017, with no grades. Register online, at an At Your Service desk or by mail.

Further out, thevillages.com lists Light Up The Villages on December 1, 5 to 9 p.m., and Neon Night on December 19. Veterans Day week has its own schedule in our Veterans Day guide.

A Villages-News opinion headline on October 18 asked about possible cutbacks to events. We found no official notice of changes, so check thevillages.com before planning around a big night.

How does where you live change your week?

Your village sets your defaults: which square becomes your evening, which regional complex and sports pool are nearest, and which executive courses you can reach by cart without a long ride. Most of what is in this guide is open to any resident with a valid ID, so the difference is usually travel time, not access.

Travel time is what quietly decides how a week goes. A 10-minute cart ride to a regional complex becomes a daily habit. A 35-minute ride becomes a weekly one.

The map splits into sections with different anchors. The north end around Spanish Springs is the oldest part of the community, while the newer sections near and south of SR 44 are anchored by Brownwood and Eastport. Our section guides lay out each one, starting with north of CR 466 and south of SR 44.

If you already know your anchors (a sports pool, a favorite square, a home course), the Village Finder narrows the map to villages that put them close.

The local take

I grew up in Marion County and work as an independent agent, not for the developer's sales office.

Tour on a Tuesday, not just a Saturday. Weekends show you the highlight reel. A weekday afternoon shows you the routine you will actually live: how busy the nearest regional complex is, how long the cart ride to your course takes, whether the square is your evening or a special trip.

Put the week into the monthly number. The amenity fee is posted at $189 on thevillages.com, but it is set at purchase, so I confirm it for each address. Add the trail pass if you will ride the executive courses, a championship enhancement if you will play those, and the bond if the home carries one. Two homes at the same price can cost very different amounts to live in.

The trade-off people miss is distance. Buyers fall for a floor plan and only later learn the sports pool they swim at every morning is across a big road. Before I write an offer, I map the home to the three places a buyer says they will use most and time the drive or the cart ride to each.

If you tell me what your ideal week looks like, I will match it to the villages that put those places closest and lay out the full monthly cost for each.

Frequently asked questions

Can guests use the pools in The Villages?

Guests can use family pools and adult pools, according to the District's pool page in October 2026, but sports pools are for residents only. Guests from outside Lake, Marion and Sumter counties need a Guest ID, which a resident with a valid Resident ID applies for. Allow about three days for processing.

How far ahead can you book a tee time in The Villages?

Residents can request a tee time 4 to 7 days ahead or make a reservation 1 to 3 days ahead through the automated system at 352-753-4653 or online. Priority goes to golfers with the fewest points on a rolling seven-day basis. Day-of-play times go through the golf shop or the executive course starter.

Do you need a Resident ID to join a club in The Villages?

Yes. The District's recreation booklet says clubs are open to residents with a valid Resident ID, and residents fill out an activity release form each calendar year. Resident IDs are issued at the District's ID offices, so getting one is an early errand after closing.

When are the At Your Service desks open?

As listed in October 2026, At Your Service desks at the regional recreation centers are open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. On weekends, five locations open 8:30 a.m. to noon: Eisenhower, La Hacienda, Lake Miona, Rohan and Everglades. These desks handle activity registration, trail passes and room rentals.

Do town square hours change in the summer?

Yes. In 2026 The Villages Entertainment moved the nightly music to 6 to 10 p.m. from June 1 through September 30, then returned to its regular fall split. The fall schedule, 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, is what the October listings show.

Is the executive golf really free?

The green fee is free for residents on the 40+ executive courses, and walking costs nothing. What costs money is riding: a cart on the executive courses needs the Executive Golf Trail Pass, which the District lists at $22.54 a month or $148.77 a year before tax. Guests pay green fees.
