Halloween on the squares
Halloween in The Villages 2026: Four Squares, Four Themes, One Saturday Night
Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, and four town squares are each throwing a differently themed costume night at the same time. That makes it one of the easiest evenings of the year to see how the squares really feel, and how far each one sits from the part of the map you are considering. Every time, theme and price below is sourced and dated October 2026.

What is happening for Halloween in The Villages in 2026?
On Saturday, October 31, 2026, Spanish Springs, Lake Sumter Landing, Brownwood and Eastport each host a themed Halloween celebration from 6 to 10 p.m., with a live band or DJ, costume contests judged through the evening, and winners announced at 8 p.m. at each center stage. No admission price is listed by the developer.
The short version
- Saturday, October 31, 2026, 6 to 10 p.m. on four squares: Spanish Springs, Lake Sumter Landing, Brownwood and Eastport.
- Each square has its own costume theme: Home State Halloween, Decades, Wild West Halloween, and Icons and Idols.
- Costume contest winners are announced at 8 p.m. at each square's center stage.
- Thrill The Villages zombie dance performances run October 22, 29, 30 and 31 at four different venues.
- The one ticketed Halloween night found: a $22 costume dance party at the Old Mill Playhouse lobby, 6:30 p.m. on October 31.
What is Halloween in The Villages like in 2026?
Halloween in The Villages in 2026 is a town square event. On Saturday, October 31, four squares run their own themed party from 6 to 10 p.m.: a band or DJ, a featured Pumpkin Spike cocktail at every bar hut, and three costume contest categories per square, with winners called at 8 p.m. at center stage.
The developer announced the plan on October 1, 2026 under the name Halloween Across The Villages, and its seasonal calendar lists it as Halloween at All Squares. The format is the same everywhere: come in costume, judges circulate through the evening, and the results come at 8 p.m. What changes from square to square is the theme, the act on stage and the contest categories.
This is the nightly square entertainment with a costume layer on top, not a separate festival with gates or wristbands. If you have not been to a square at night yet, our town squares guide covers what a normal evening looks like, the stages, the dance floors and the theaters.
One scheduling note: Saturday is a weekend night, so the squares already run on the 6 to 10 p.m. schedule. Halloween does not change the hours. It just fills them.

Which costume theme is at which town square?
As of October 2026, Spanish Springs is Home State Halloween with Scooter the DJ, Lake Sumter Landing is Decades with Eighteen87, Brownwood is Wild West Halloween with the Alex Hayes Band, and Eastport is Icons and Idols with Blonde Ambition. All four run 6 to 10 p.m. on October 31.
| Square | Theme | On stage, 6 to 10 p.m. | Contest categories | Extras |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spanish Springs Town Square | Home State Halloween | Scooter the DJ | Best State Spirit Award; United States of Awesome (groups); America's Choice (crowd favorite) | Thrill The Villages at 6:45 p.m.; Vampire's Kiss cocktail, only at this square |
| Lake Sumter Landing Market Square | Decades | Eighteen87 | Best Decade Icon; Best Time-Traveling Duo or Group; The Greatest Hit Award (crowd vote) | Old Mill Playhouse costume party nearby (ticketed) |
| Brownwood Paddock Square | Wild West Halloween | Alex Hayes Band | Best Sheriff in Town; Best Posse (duo or group); Most Wanted (crowd vote) | Hometown Market at the square, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. that morning |
| Eastport | Icons and Idols | Blonde Ambition | Ultimate Icon Award (best overall); The Headliners (pair or group); People's Choice (crowd vote) | Thrillagers performance at 6:45 p.m. |
The themes reward a little planning. Home State Halloween at Spanish Springs invites you to dress as the state you came from. Decades at Lake Sumter Landing is the easiest costume to pull from a closet. Wild West at Brownwood fits the square's cattle-town styling.
A note on sources: the developer's Halloween article lists Blonde Ambition at Eastport, but the Eastport entertainment calendar I read today showed listings only through October 29. Treat the Eastport act as announced, and check the calendar closer to the date.

What is Thrill The Villages, and when can you see it?
Thrill The Villages is a zombie makeup and dance performance staged during Halloween week. As of October 2026 the developer lists four dates: October 22 at Sawgrass Grove at 4:45 p.m., October 29 at Eastport, October 30 at Brownwood and October 31 at Spanish Springs, each at 6:45 p.m.
The developer describes it simply as zombie makeup and dance performances. At Eastport it is listed during the first intermission of the night's music, so it works as a short set inside the evening rather than a separate show: you can catch it and stay for the band.
| Date | Performance | Venue | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thursday, October 22 | Thrill The Villages | Sawgrass Grove | 4:45 p.m. |
| Thursday, October 29 | Thrill The Villages | Eastport | 6:45 p.m. (listed during the first intermission of CLUB CTRL with DJ Lu-S) |
| Friday, October 30 | Thrill The Villages | Brownwood Paddock Square | 6:45 p.m. |
| Saturday, October 31 | Thrill The Villages | Spanish Springs Town Square | 6:45 p.m. |
| Saturday, October 31 | Thrillagers | Eastport | 6:45 p.m. |
Before Halloween week, the FunAddicts flash mob also makes the rounds at 5:45 p.m.: October 19 at Spanish Springs, October 21 at Lake Sumter Landing and October 26 at Brownwood.

Is Halloween on the town squares free, and can visitors go?
The developer lists no admission price for Halloween on the squares, and the nightly square entertainment is listed as free and open to the public, so visitors and residents alike can attend. You pay for food and drinks. Fall Flavors bar hut specials are listed at $8 single, $10.50 double, and $6 or $7.50 for mocktails.
No page I read states an age limit or an ID requirement for the square celebrations. That matches how the squares work year round: a resident ID matters at pools, recreation centers and golf, not for standing on a square listening to a band.
The three October 31 drinks are the Witch's Brew, the Pumpkin Spike and the Vampire's Kiss, and the developer notes the Vampire's Kiss is only at Spanish Springs. The prices above are the Fall Flavors prices published in October 2026.
If family is visiting for the weekend and you want to take them to a pool or a recreation center as well, that is where guest passes come in. Our first 30 days checklist walks through resident IDs and guest IDs.

Are there ticketed Halloween parties in The Villages?
Yes. Villagers for Veterans presents a Halloween Dance Party in the lobby of the Epic Theatres Old Mill Playhouse at Lake Sumter Landing on Saturday, October 31, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are listed at $22 plus seat-dependent fees, and the evening runs about two hours with Hollywood and The Tropix.
The party listing promises music, food, a cash bar and prizes for the best costumes. Tickets go through The Villages Entertainment box office, (352) 753-3229, or its online SmartSeat system. The playhouse address is 1000 Old Mill Run, The Villages, FL 32162. The listing also notes that the presenting organization runs the show content and staff, not the theater.
Two more Halloween listings worth knowing:
- Halloween Show with Request Line Live at the Old Mill Playhouse theater on Tuesday, October 27, described as an interactive variety show with costumes encouraged. The listing I read gave no start time or price, so check the playhouse page.
- Changes Boutique Halloween Costume Party on Friday, October 30, listed on the developer's seasonal page with a gift certificate for best dressed and food and drinks available. Confirm the time and location with the store.
The Villagers for Veterans party lands a week before the community's Veterans Day programming. The developer lists Honoring Our Veterans events from November 8 to 11; our veterans guide covers the clinics, clubs and memorials year round.

How do you plan a Halloween night on the squares?
Pick one square by theme and distance, arrive near 6 p.m. if you want a seat, and plan to stay through the 8 p.m. contest results. Expect a crowd on a holiday Saturday, so leave extra time for cart or car parking. Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, November 1, so the night gains an hour.
A few practical points for October 31, 2026:
- Do one square well. All four run 6 to 10 p.m. at once, and the contests at each square are judged through the evening, so hopping squares means missing the judging and the 8 p.m. results somewhere.
- The 6:45 p.m. sets. If the zombie dance matters to you, that points you to Spanish Springs (Thrill The Villages) or Eastport (Thrillagers) on the 31st, or to Brownwood the night before.
- Getting there. Most residents go by golf cart on the multi-modal paths and cross the big roads on cart bridges and tunnels. See golf cart living for how the network connects.
- Weather. The Villages Entertainment says all events and performances are subject to change. I found no published rain plan for Halloween night, so check the square's calendar that afternoon.
- Make a day of it at Brownwood. The Hometown Market runs at Brownwood Paddock Square from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on October 31, before the evening party.
- The clock change. Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2026. Clocks fall back an hour, so Sunday morning comes later than it feels.
Halloween is also on the site's events calendar, which you can add to your phone.

What does Halloween on the squares tell you about choosing a village?
A big shared night shows which square becomes your default. Spanish Springs serves the north end above CR 466, Lake Sumter Landing the middle, Brownwood the area near SR 44, and Eastport the newer villages to the south. Driving or riding to the square you would actually use, on a busy night, is a useful test.
Most people visiting The Villages see the squares on a quiet weeknight or a sunny afternoon. Halloween is the opposite: every square at its fullest at the same hour. That makes it a good night to notice the things that matter after you move:
- The route. How long the cart ride is from the area you like, how many roundabouts, and whether the trip crosses a major road on a bridge or tunnel.
- The noise. Homes a short walk from a square get the convenience and also the music until 10 p.m. on weekends. Halloween is a fair test of the loudest version.
- The square itself. The four are styled very differently, and on a costume night the personality of each is easy to read.
For orientation by region: the historic side and north of CR 466 sit closest to Spanish Springs; CR 466 to CR 466A is closest to Lake Sumter Landing; south of SR 44 connects to Brownwood by cart bridge; and the southwest and newest villages generally sit nearer Eastport.

The local take
I was born and raised in Marion County, I served in the Navy, and I work as an independent buyer's agent, not for the developer's sales office.
Use Halloween as a test drive. If you are visiting this fall and weighing two or three areas, pick the square nearest the one you like most and go on October 31. Note how long it takes to get there, how the parking feels at 6 p.m. on a holiday Saturday, and how far the music carries into the nearest streets.
The trade-off people miss. Living a short walk from a square sounds like the dream until you price it. Close-in homes near Spanish Springs are generally the oldest housing, so I look harder at the roof, the HVAC and the inspection. Near Eastport and the newest villages, homes are newer, and the remaining bond balance can matter more to the monthly number than the purchase price suggests.
What I would check. For any home you are serious about, I pull the bond balance, the amenity fee for that address and the cart route to the square you would actually use, then put two homes side by side. That comparison usually settles it faster than another drive around.
Frequently asked questions
Is there trick-or-treating in The Villages?
I did not find an official trick-or-treat program from the developer or the District for 2026. The organized Halloween events published for October 31 are the four town square celebrations and the ticketed Old Mill Playhouse party. Neighborhood customs vary by street, so ask neighbors if you plan to hand out candy.
What day of the week is Halloween in 2026?
Halloween falls on a Saturday in 2026. That means the town squares are already on their weekend schedule of 6 to 10 p.m., and the Halloween celebrations at Spanish Springs, Lake Sumter Landing, Brownwood and Eastport use that full window.
When are the costume contest winners announced?
The developer says judging happens throughout the evening and winners are announced at 8 p.m. at the center stage of each square. Each square has three categories, including a crowd-voted award, so arriving in costume early gives the judges more of the evening to see you.
Is Sawgrass Grove part of the Halloween celebration?
Sawgrass Grove is not one of the four squares listed for October 31, but it hosts the first Thrill The Villages performance of the season, on Thursday, October 22, 2026 at 4:45 p.m. Its fall entertainment hours match the three classic squares: 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
What are the regular town square hours this fall?
As of October 2026, Spanish Springs, Lake Sumter Landing, Brownwood and Sawgrass Grove run nightly entertainment 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Eastport runs 6 to 10 p.m. every night. Confirm on The Villages Entertainment calendar before you go.
What other big events follow Halloween in The Villages?
The developer's fall calendar lists Honoring Our Veterans events November 8 to 11, the Dragon Boat Rodeo at Eastport on November 14, the Pro Shootout on November 20 and Light Up The Villages at Lake Sumter Landing on December 1, from 5 to 9 p.m. Details can change, so check closer to each date.
